TEDx is a grassroots initiative launched by TED to support its mission of uncovering and sharing “ideas worth spreading.” Through independently organized events around the world, TEDx brings TED’s spirit of curiosity, innovation, and inspiration to local communities. These events are led by passionate individuals who spotlight compelling ideas, research, and stories relevant to their regions, sparking meaningful conversations and connections. Business Challenge
The process of collecting and sharing feedback with TEDx organizers had become fragmented. TEDx was using a third-party tool that involved manual steps, lacked real-time visibility, and offered no integration with Salesforce. They needed more than just a way to collect feedback, they needed a complete feedback system. With SurveyVista, TEDx was able to collect feedback securely across the globe, integrate responses directly into Salesforce for centralized access, understand insights through built-in dashboards and analytics, and act on feedback to continuously improve organizer support and attendee experiences. Replacing Delighted (by Qualtrics) with a Scalable Native Salesforce Solution
The TEDx team wanted to transition away from using Delighted to collect post-event feedback and instead bring everything into Salesforce for better automation, consistency, and data privacy. The goal was to build a survey process that:
Automatically sent surveys to attendees after events
Delivered live dashboards to TEDx event organizers
Protected personally identifiable information (PII) from event organizers
Supported multilingual responses
Scaled across thousands of global TEDx events
Reduced opportunities for user error

The Implementation
We worked closely with the TEDx team and Coastal Cloud to configure a tailored feedback system within SurveyVista that aligned with TEDx’s unique needs.
Improved Uploader for Organizers
Previously, organizers were required to upload their attendee email list as a spreadsheet with very specific formatting – failure to do so would prevent the survey from sending.
Any misformatted email addresses would be omitted from the list without notifying the organizer.
Coastal Cloud created a Salesforce screen flow where organizers upload email addresses as free text rather than a file. This includes a secondary display of which emails were successfully processed, allowing organizers to cross-reference with the original list in case of formatting errors.
Survey Automation
Every attendee, captured as a lead in Salesforce, receives a post-event survey automatically. Survey dispatch is powered by Salesforce Flow and carefully timed. Responses are only shared with organizers after a defined waiting period, typically 21 days, to allow time for submissions.
Real Time Dashboards for Organizers
Once responses are collected, SurveyVista sends each event organizer a unique live dashboard link. This link displays:
Net Promoter Score (NPS)
Breakdown of promoters, passives, and detractors
Free-text feedback from attendees
The dashboards update in real time, allowing organizers to view results instantly as responses come in.
PII Protection
To protect attendee privacy, the TED team can classify any survey question as personally identifiable. Responses to these questions are automatically excluded from TEDx event organizer-facing dashboards, while internal TED teams retain full access.
Multilingual Support
Surveys can be sent in 29 languages by TEDx audiences, ensuring global accessibility and inclusivity.
